Carer’s started today

Well hello again,

My daily care package started today.  It is difficult to preserve some dignity when you need help getting in and out of the bath and help to wash your hair.  I have done well to get to 38 before needing this level of care but it is still hard at first.  Thankfully my morning carer was down to earth and made no fuss which made it easier to accept and adjust to.  It was still a huge struggle to get in and out of the bath, even with help, and not a particularly safe manoeuvre.  I think I now need to apply for a seat lift to get me in and out.

I did feel so much more refreshed and relaxed though after having a bath without the usual associated stress and fear of falling.  It seemed to make the whole of the rest of the day easier to cope with.

My evening carer came to help with the evening meal and wash up, it is so nice to sit in the kitchen without having to look at piled up dirty dishes which I usually wouldn’t be fit to sort out till tomorrow lunchtime.

As I noted in the thought of the day being too proud to accept help can be very costly; emotionally, physically and of your time.

I have managed to do quite a bit of research and would like to do a non-fiction essay for a particular publication but the submission deadline is today – I don’t think I will be able to write something worthy of being printed in such a short space of time.  There are many other new markets that I have found today though so maybe I should start working on a piece that I have more time to complete and tweak to my satisfaction.

Thanks for listening to my self-absorbed rants.
