Book Description as described on Amazon
Drow ranger Drizzt Do’Urden, first introduced in The Icewind Dale Trilogy, quickly became one of the fantasy genre’s standout characters. But Homeland first reveals the startling tale of how this one lone drow walked out of the shadowy depths of the Underdark, leaving behind a society of evil and a family who want him dead. It is here that the story of this amazing dark elf truly began.

My Review
The language is just beautiful the prose flows lyrically.
The matriarchal society of this fantasy world is very different to that of our own society but unfortunately it is not too difficult to imagine. As a generalisation of this world, there is no compassion, mercy, empathy.
The characters are all extremely well written but as readers we are left with three definite favourites – Drizzt, Zaknafein and Guenhwyvar, I will leave you to read it for yourself to find out why.
The battle scenes are well described and real.
The complex relationship structure within this novel is extremely well written and draws the reader in, you will quickly begin to take sides.
I absolutely loved the ending of this book and will not be waiting long before I get my hands on the next in the series.
If you are a fan of fantasy then go out now and buy this book – start a new adventure.
A definite 5 stars – total escapism and fantasy.
